BenQ W2710i, 4K Ultra HD Video Projector, Android TV 11.0, 95% DCI-P3, HDR10, 2200…

Big brother of the BenQ W2710 presented yesterday in our columns, the BenQ W2710i video projector uses all its features modulo the Android TV 11.0 dongle (reference BenQ QS02) directly integrated into its chassis, for easy access to the Google universe with Google Play Store.

DLP HD Ready 2 160p (by wobulation) and 3D Ready model, the BenQ W2710i allows you to enjoy all Google applications: Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, myCanal... Namely, the Netflix 4K HDR application is directly integrated to enjoy your favorite movies, series or documentaries, just like with a Smart TV. Not to mention the ChromeCast (integrated) and AirPlay functions to display an appropriate wireless source, and more generally Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility.

BenQ W2710i, 0.47'' DMD chip

In short, Texas Instrument's XPR (wobulation) process of the BenQ W2710i, made from a 1920 x 1080 pixel section of the 0.47'' (1.19 cm) DMD chip which has 2 048 x 1200 pixels, uses hyper-high mirror switching speed (7 micro-seconds) through specific video processing to create 8 million pixels for each displayed frame (one real pixel results in four pixels).

BenQ W2710i, main specs

Regarding Ultra HD/4K technology, through the new HDR-Pro functionality, the BenQ W2710i, still HDR10 and HDR HLG compatible, now supports HDR10+ technology. On the gamut side, the BenQ W2710i provides 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 space. Good news, again, BenQ ensures that the factory setting of the W2710i ensures a Deta E of less than 3 to make the most of the projector right out of the box, without the imperative need for calibration. Finally, the optics are made of glass and consist of six groups for a total of ten lenses, MEMC motion compensation is still in place and grayscale calibration is now possible on 11 points.

For the rest, like the W2710, the brightness displays 2,200 lumens, the contrast ratio 50,000:1 and the wheel is a six-segment specimen (RGBRGB) which, associated with a specific setting, displays 95% of DCI-P3 color space (CinematicColor function). Similarly, the Cinemamaster function to improve pixel quality (color, sharpness, skin tone, etc.) is still present. Still on the menu, in addition to a short focal length (image diagonal of 100'', 254 cm, for a recoil of 2.5 m), we must also mention a 1.3x zoom to display a diagonal of up to 300' ' (762cm). Finally, there is a vertical keystone correction over 30 degrees, a vertical Lens Shift of 10% and an adjustable manual focus via a ring to be rotated above the lens. Of course, the BenQ W2710i is also 3D DLP Link compatible, and operating noise fluctuates between 28 dB and 30 dB, respectively in Eco and Normal mode.

Another major evolution of the BenQ W2710i, a new video processor from the TV universe, the Quad Core MediaTek MT9669 model. The latter offers, among other things, the Local Contrast Enhancer function to improve image quality through segmentation and analysis of more than 1,000 zones. Each of them benefits from a specific luminosity and gamma curve.

BenQ W2710i, connectivity

The connection has three HDMI 2.0b inputs, one of which has the eARC function and another compatible with 4K/120 signals (but 4K/60 display), a 3.5 mm mini-Jack output, an optical output, a RS-232 socket, a 12V trigger, two USB ports, one of which is powered, and a mini-USB type-B port (service). The lamp boasts a lifespan of 4,000 hours in Normal mode, 10,000 hours in Eco mode.

BenQ W2710i, Input Lag

Last point, on the Input Lag side, the BenQ W2710i displays 17.9 ms with a 2160p@60 Hz signal, 8.7 ms in 1080p@240 Hz and 21 ms in 1080p@120 Hz. Interesting characteristics for gaming video from a PS5, Xbox Series X console or a PC equipped with a high-performance graphics card (as a reminder, 4K/120 signal compatibility).
