No iPhone 17th after all?

Despite a name change from iPhone SE to iPhone 16, Apple's "cheap" lineup may not be released regularly every year after all.

No sooner had the new iPhone 16e been released last February than rumors were already circulating about the arrival of an iPhone 17e the following year. What's more, by transforming the iPhone SE into the iPhone 16e, Apple most likely intended to abandon a periodic and random release schedule for this model in favor of a regular annual release for this "low" price model.

The iPhone 18e for 2027, a direct successor to the iPhone 16e?££££

However, next year could be devoid of an iPhone 17e if we are to believe a report from the well-informed The Information. The site has in fact compiled a list of iPhones that would be launched in 2025, 2026 and 2027, and while we find the iPhone 17 Air, 18 Air and even the brand new foldable, no mention is made of the 17th. More specifically, the site explains that the successor to the iPhone 16th would be released in spring 2027, which would therefore be the iPhone 18th, since the iPhone 18 range will have been launched in the previous fall (2026). This corroborates the statements of Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who reported in April that Apple had not yet made a final decision on the release of an iPhone 17th.
