BenQ W4000i, new 4K Ultra HD DLP video projector, LED and Android 11.0

Unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas 2023 last January, the BenQ W4000i Ultra HD 4K video projector is announced officially available in France. Presentation.

The BenQ W4000i therefore expands the range of the Taiwanese manufacturer, many of whose references are optimized for Home Cinema use. With its Ultra HD 4K compatibility and an announced 100% DCI-P3 gamut coverage, the BenQ W4000i displays specifications perfectly suited to Home Cinema sessions, especially from HDR sources.

BenQ W4000i, main specs

HD Ready 2 160p and 3D Ready model, the BenQ W4000i is still based on the 0.65'' (1.65 cm) DMD chip from Texas Instrument which has 1,920 x 1,080 pixels to generate an Ultra HD 4K image through the XPR4 process (wobulation). The super-high mirror switching speed (7 microseconds) is harnessed through specific video processing to create 8 million pixels for each displayed image (one real pixel results in four pixels).

The light source is 4LED (like the X3000i) made up of RGB diodes combined with a WCG (Wide Color Gamut) filter. So no encoder wheel. The lifespan announces 20,000 hours in Normal mode, 30,000 hours in Eco mode.

BenQ W4000i, specs next

Based on HDR‑PRO technology specifically optimized for video projection, the BenQ W4000i supports HDR10/HDR10+ and HDR HLG formats. In addition, HDR-PRO includes automatic color and skin tone mapping techniques to deliver an impressively realistic image. The brightness displays 3,200 lumens for a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.

On the menu still a 1.3x manual zoom to display a diagonal up to 300'' (762 cm). Finally, there is a vertical/horizontal keystone correction ±30° and an adjustable manual focus via a ring to be rotated, located on the side of the projector. Namely, the BenQ W4000i embeds an Android TV dongle (reference QS02) with integrated Netflix.

Finally, the audio section based on an "in-house" Trevolo system (see our news BenQ Trevolo: portable electrostatic audio system) delivers a total power of 5 watts.

BenQ W4000i, Android TV 11.0 dongle

Of course, the BenQ W4000i is also 3D DLP Link compatible. There is also an operating noise oscillating between 28 dB and 32 dB, respectively in Eco and Normal mode. Finally, the BenQ W4000i hosts in its base in a specific location an Android TV 11.0 dongle to access the Google universe with the Google Play Store. It is therefore easy to install your favorite applications: Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, myCanal...
