While it has just been put on sale, the iPhone 16e is being put on the operating table by the YouTube channel PBKreviews. The aim of the operation is to take the device apart to see what's going on inside its shell, and assess how easy it is to repair.
iPhone 16e, relatively easy to disassemble ££££
In the video above (a sort of ASMR of the disassembly, except when the operator is talking), we can see that the device is relatively easy to disassemble, even if the process requires the right tools (always the famous heat gun to melt the glue that holds key elements together) and a certain technical mastery. Thus, the channel gives the device a repairability rating of 7.5/10, still below Samsung mobiles.
iPhone 16e, easier battery change but not yet at the level of Samsung smartphones££££
The highlight of this dismantling, the battery of the Apple smartphone, until now difficult to remove due to intense sticking. But since the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, it is enough to apply an electric current to it for it to be removed almost instantly. Easy, but again, still less than for the models of the competition, not allowing the iPhone 16e to obtain the maximum repairability rating for this component.
