Co-founded by the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, and designed by architect Ma Yansong, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will open its doors in Los Angeles on September 22, 2026.
Once upon a time... a George Lucas museum
In this enormous spaceship literally set down on a magnificent plant-filled park built especially for the occasion, there are around thirty galleries, one of which is naturally dedicated to Star Wars, with pieces from Lucas's personal collection. However, the whole is above all dedicated to the immortal human impulse to tell stories through images, namely the art of storytelling.
The museum thus houses more than 40,000 pieces spanning cultures, centuries, and media, from painting to photography, including comics and, of course, cinema. Works by Norman Rockwell, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Maxfield Parrish, and Frank Frazetta are notably on display.
