Dark Water 4K Ultra HD: Hideo Nakata's other ghost movie

In the midst of divorce proceedings, Yoshimi (Hitomi Kuroki) tries to make ends meet to raise her 6-year-old daughter Ikuko (Rio Kanno). Luck finally smiles on her when she finds a new job and a bigger apartment. But as soon as she is installed, she discovers an unsanitary habitat, in addition to strange noises coming from the floor above.

In 1998, Japanese horror cinema experienced a major turning point with Hideo Nakata's Ring. If we had to wait until early 2000 to discover it in France, this film of absolute darkness around a cursed video cassette had already exploded at the box office in Japan and quickly obtained cult status.

Directed four years later, Dark Water confirms the filmmaker's taste for oppressive atmospheres and the ghosts that come to haunt the living.
