iPhone 15, periscope x5 telephoto lens in sight

The 2023 iPhones could be the first to benefit from a photo sensor capable of optical zooms on a par with the competition.

Apple always takes its time to bring to the iPhone functions already available from the competition. The telephoto lens of iPhones is thus still lagging behind, capable of an x3 optical zoom on the latest iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, for example, goes up to x10.

Lante Optics, supplier of the periscope optics of the iPhoner 15?

But that should change soon if we are to believe a rumor dating back to last April, which recently surfaced through the sources of analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong Intl Tech Research. He explains that the company Lante Optics, supposed to work on this subject for Apple, continues to increase its production capacities to deliver the prism necessary for the manufacture of this periscope optics.

Periscope telephoto lens exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Jeff Pu adds that the lens should only have a x5 zoom, against an x10 initially planned. A characteristic corroborated by another renowned analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. Pu finally explains that the periscope telephoto lens will be available for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but also Pro. Source: 9to5mac
