8K enters the consciousness of US homes

A quick look at the state of the market for televisions and content in Ultra HD 4K format, but also of Ultra HD 8K technology, which is beginning to take hold.

Hub Entertainment Research (via Advanced Television) conducted a survey of more than 5,204 Americans in February about the “connected home”.

American Home TV Equipment

We learn that 52% of respondents own a 4K UHD television, and that 67% have already watched Ultra HD content. Only 8% claim to have an 8K UHD TV, but this figure was only 1% last year, which is a good progression. 76% of American households have a Smart TV and 64% have used it this month (Editor's note: February, we remind you) to "stream" content. Of all TVs in the home, 57% are connected, up from 45% in 2020, a marked increase.

What about buying an 8K TV?

Respondents were also asked if they were planning to buy an 8K UHD TV in the next 12 months, and 14% said "definitely", significantly more than the 10% who gave the same answer Last year.
