Speaker manufacturer, the American manufacturer founded in 1998 and located in Yougstow, Ohio, designs and manufactures its own loudspeakers. Its latest series, the SVS 5000, has two references: SVS SB-5000 RlEvolution (see left in the photo below) and SVS PB-5000 RlEvolution (see right in the photo below), respectively sealed and [abc]bass-reflex[/abc] models. This announcement is sure to delight fans of the brand given the specifications of these new models, a wide selection of which comes directly from their big brothers.

SVS 5000 RlEvolution subwoofers, main specifications££££
New features include the new 15" (38 cm) speaker with a 3" double-wound voice coil with a flat edge for maximum heat dissipation and perfect (or almost) linearity, combined with a ferrite toroidal magnet weighing 17 kg. It is worth mentioning the borrowing from the 17-Ultra series of a dual monobloc 1000 W Class D amplifier for a total of 2000 W (5000 W peak) combined with an output stage equipped with MOSFET transistors (60 A/200 V), plus an Analog Devices DSP (clocked at 295 MHz) which acts as a back-up system. The power supply is managed by an AC line conditioner with PFC (Power Factor Correction) to clean the signal of electromagnetic and radio interference in real time. A final word on the onboard DAC: with a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, it guarantees distortion-free sound reproduction, even at high volume.
The time has come to specify that the SVS SB-5000 RlEvolution subwoofer can reproduce frequencies up to 17 Hz while the SVS PB-5000 RlEvolution, via its triple front port and a larger volume, ensures up to 13 hertz. Enough to make your trouser legs tremble…
SVS SB-5000 RlEvolution and SVS PB-5000 RlEvolution subwoofers, SVS app££££
The SVS SB-5000 RlEvolution and SVS PB-5000 RlEvolution subwoofers can also be controlled by an Android or iOS smartphone. Thus, volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity plus six parametric equalizers, room gain compensation, power management and more are possible via the SVS app. A new Auto EQ subwoofer room correction system, operating through the microphone of an Android/iOS device, is also in the works and will be available in a future [abc]Firmware[/abc] update of the app. The latter will also allow the implementation of various equalization filters or even the optimization of the frequency response at key listening positions "for optimal room performance".
