The Boston Strangler on Disney, remake of a masterpiece with Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley resumes the investigation of the notorious serial killer in the new trailer for The Boston Strangler.

A hellish cast, an attractive image, worked and classic at the same time, this trailer for The Boston Strangler sets the tone for a film that already brings to mind the universe of Zodiac and Seven by David fincher. A promising investigation.

The unsaid of an era

Like the landmark 1968 film The Boston Strangler directed by Richard Fleischer with Tony Curtis in the title role, this new feature film directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) pays tribute to the pioneering journalists who traced the trail of the famous serial killer Albert De Salvo, author of thirteen sordid crimes in Boston between 1962 and 1964.

Collective psychosis and sexism

The film features Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a reporter for the daily Record American, who seeks to establish the possible link between the horrific murders of women committed in their homes for nearly a year. While the mysterious killer claims more and more victims, to the point of causing a real psychosis in the city, Loretta tries to carry out her investigation alongside her colleague and confidante Jean Cole (Carrie Coon). But the duo comes up against the sexism of the time. Their absolute quest for the truth will gradually lead them to put their own lives on the line…

Carrie Coon (Fargo series), Alessandro Nivola (Amsterdam), David Dastmalchian (Dune), Morgan Spector (Homeland), Bill Camp (Joker) and Chris Cooper (Adaptation) complete the cast of the film produced by Ridley Scott ( Alien) and available on Disney+ from March 17, 2023.
