Leaked image of the Facebook smartwatch… sorry, Meta

A glance at the front camera of the connected watch supposedly in development at Meta (formerly Facebook).

Already mentioned last June, the smartwatch supposedly developed by Meta (the new name of Facebook) is revealed through a leaked image, discovered in the application for connected glasses Ray-Ban Stories of the same brand (source Bloomberg).

Connected watch and backup camera

As we said in the previous news, this watch would have the particularity of being able to be removed from the strap, which can then be used as a backup camera: 1080p sensor with autofocus on the back, plus another on the front for video calls. And it is precisely the front sensor that is clearly visible in this image, with a small notch at the bottom of the screen.

This characteristic point is supposed to differentiate the Meta watch from its competitors and bring it closer to a smartphone (LTE compatibility included). The device is expected to be released in the summer of 2022, although no final decision has yet been made on this at Meta.
