LG Eclair, compact soundbar 3.1.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS: X and Meridian Horizon

After the presentation of the LG SP11RA, LG SP, LG SP7 and LG SPD7 soundbars, continuation and end of our overview of the 2021 range of the Korean manufacturer with the LG QP5W compatible Dolby Atmos / DTS: X, known also under the surname LG Eclair.

The Korean manufacturer LG therefore announced in early September the upcoming release of the Eclair soundbar, a model that stands out from the rest of the 2021 range by its compactness, apart of course from the external wireless subwoofer. Judge for yourself, the LG QP5W measures 296 x 59.9 x 126 mm (388 x 291 x 185 mm for the subwoofer).

Small but sturdy, the LG Eclair boasts premium specifications. Model 3.1.2, we find within the soundbar we find the classic left and right channels, center for dialogues plus two upward-facing channels for reproduction of Height channels, for a total of five speakers. Class D amplification delivers 100 W (5 x 20 W).

For the subwoofer, there are two speakers mounted back to back in order to eliminate the vibrations generated by a subwoofer at mono-directional bass frequencies, equipped with a single loudspeaker. Likewise, the LG Eclair's subwoofer is also relatively discreet thanks to its contained dimensions. Its Class D amplification delivers 220 W, bringing the LG Eclair's total to 320 W for seven speakers.

AI Sound Pro function

The AI Sound Pro function directly from the brand's televisions is present. This means that the adjustments made in real time by the TV according to the nature of the signal are transmitted to the sound bar for an even magnified sound reproduction. Namely, the LG QP5W also embeds the exclusive Meridian Horizon technology capable of converting a stereo signal into a multichannel. We can also report the presence of Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility to enjoy the audio content of a suitable device (smartphone, tablet, computer…).

The supported formats are numerous and include among others LPCM, Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution, DTS : X, Flac (up to 192 kHz), Ogg (up to 48 kHz), Wav, MP3, WMA and AAC.

Connectors

Finally, the connection has an HDMI CEC 2.1 input / output (eARC) HDCP 2.3 certified to take advantage of signals from a 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray player or from a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S / X game console, an optical input plus a USB Host port. And the management of HDR10 and HDR Dolby Vision is of course on the program.
