According to several sources within the distribution in South Korea, Samsung saw its sales of OLED TVs soar last month in its domestic market, +140% compared to May 2024. This situation bodes well for the Korean manufacturer regarding its 2025 market share in the domestic OLED TV market segment, which until now has been outrageously dominated by LG.
+140% of sales of [abc]Oled[/abc] TV sales in South Korea, for the month of May, compared to the same period last year, is significant. This clear increase in sales mainly concerns the 77" (196 cm) and 83" (211 cm) models "reflecting the growing consumer demand in terms of size and image quality," said an industry source. Samsung Oled TV, expansion of the Oled TV range and Glare Feee 2.0 technology££££ Certainly, the Samsung Oled TV range has significantly expanded in 2025. If in 2024 there were three series, five sizes and ten models in 2024, in 2025 there are still three series, but six diagonals and fourteen models. A factual reason which partly explains the increase in sales of Samsung Oled TVs. Another factor behind Samsung's OLED TV sales growth this year is the launch of the portable Moving Style OLED TV. Similarly, for the first time in 2025, Samsung included some of its OLED TV models in its annual promotions: customers who trade in an old TV (including other brands) and purchase a promoted OLED model can receive up to 300,000 won (around €190), a benefit that has boosted purchase conversions through word of mouth. But among industry sources, many attribute the sales increase to the exclusive Glare Free 2.0 technology, which minimizes screen glare, even in bright light or direct sunlight, and improves visual immersion. OLED TV market: signs of a reversal of position between LG and Samsung? ££££ Until now, LG Electronics has dominated the global OLED TV market and maintained a dominant position in South Korea with a market share above 50%. It remains to be seen whether the rapid growth in Samsung OLED TV sales is a sign of a potential change in the Korean OLED TV market on the one hand, and in the world on the other. As a reminder, according to the market research firm Omdia, Samsung dominated the North American OLED broadcaster market in the first quarter of 2025 with a volume market share of 45.2% (see our news item US OLED TV market: Samsung now overtakes LG).
