George Miller and the Mad Max saga are far from over.

The legendary Australian filmmaker George Miller still has film and television projects planned for Mad Max. It would even seem that he has already planned Max Rockatansky's final ride into the sunset.
Matthew Belloni of Puck reports that Miller, now 81, was recently in Hollywood meeting with several studios to discuss what essentially appears to be an exit plan for the franchise. The plan would include one final film, followed by a television series, before selling the intellectual property to the highest bidder. Amazon, Universal, and Sony Pictures are reportedly interested, but the most notable element is the absence of Warner Bros. Pictures, the saga's historic home and distributor of the previous five films. Miller reportedly visited Warner, but both the film and television divisions declined. It must be said that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga grossed only $174 million worldwide on a budget of approximately $168 million, becoming a serious financial setback for the studio. Even Fury Road, despite its critical acclaim and numerous awards, only grossed $380 million on a budget exceeding $150 million. Added to the context of Paramount Skydance's acquisition of Warner Bros., a costly gamble on the franchise had little chance of success. After Christopher Nolan's move to a new studio, which proved quite successful with Oppenheimer, we hope for the same for George Miller with this potential twilight film about Mad Max.
