Focal Mu-so Hekla: 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos 660W audio system by Naim

Focal launches Mu-so Hekla, an immersive all-in-one home cinema system that combines a soundbar, amplifier, and advanced network functions in a single unit designed to sit on a piece of furniture. Use it to enjoy your favorite music from a streaming platform, a hard drive, or to enhance the sound from your television.
Developed with the support of engineers from Naim, a British electronics designer owned by Focal since the early 2010s, and whose reputation in data processing and amplification stages is well established, the Mu-so Hekla takes its name from the eponymous volcano located in southern Iceland. Focal undoubtedly wanted to associate the magnificence and presence of a volcanic eruption with the sonic power and surround sound experience offered by the Mu-so Hekla.

Focal Mu-so Hekla, acoustic package

The Focal Mu-so Hekla sound system features no fewer than fifteen speakers, including three 13 x 6 cm woofers, two 6 cm midrange drivers, and two 25 mm tweeters on the front, complemented by four side-firing full-range drivers and four on top to recreate the effects and up-firing channels. Each driver has its own dedicated amplification channel: 3 x 60 W for the woofers and 12 x 40 W for the others, totaling 660 W, for a claimed frequency response of 30 Hz to 20 kHz (27 Hz at -6 dB and a SPL of 108 dB at 1 m). Specifically, the Class D power supply allows you to fill rooms up to 40 m² with sound, supporting Dolby Atmos signals up to 7.1.2 and Hi-Res Audio streaming via the Naim Pulse platform. An RCA output allows you to easily add a subwoofer to further enhance the bass response.

Focal Mu-so Hekla: Naim Pulse platform, Hi-Res Audio streaming and multiroom££££ On the connectivity side, the Focal Mu-so Hekla system relies on the latest streaming/network card of the Naim Pulse platform dedicated to Sphere systems, giving access to Tidal, Qobuz, QQ Music and Spotify via their respective Connect protocols, as well as to [abc]webradios[/abc] via TuneIn, enriched by Xperi information. The soundbar handles streams up to 384 kHz/32-bit WAV, 384 kHz/24-bit FLAC, AIFF, and ALAC, DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz, as well as compressed MP3, AAC, Ogg, and Opus codecs, including over Wi-Fi 6 where all formats up to 384 kHz are supported. Connectivity includes an HDMI eARC/CEC port, an optical input, and a port Gigabit Ethernet, complemented by Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 (SBC, AAC). The Focal Mu-so Hekla can be controlled via the Focal & Naim app (iOS/Android), widgets, or from smartwatches and Google/Apple voice assistants. Multiroom and Party Mode functions for synchronizing up to 32 Focal and Naim streamers are included. [] Focal Mu-so Hekla: Sphere audio mode and Adapt technology for room integration. Focal and Naim have developed an audio mode called Sphere that combines beamforming and crosstalk cancellation to optimize spatialization and immersion in the listening area. Adapt technology allows for fine-tuning the sound output according to the room's configuration, ensuring consistent soundstage regardless of the soundbar's position (a kind of automatic calibration).

Focal Mu-so Hekla: Aluminum Design With its 100cm wide cabinet in brushed and sandblasted anodized aluminum, complete with a grille, the Focal Mu-so Hekla system aims for easy integration into the living room while remaining simple to install: a single unit, placed on a piece of furniture, to replace an amplifier and speaker system.

Worldwide availability announced for the first quarter of 2026 (already on sale in China and South Korea). The Focal Mu-so Hekla system is scheduled to be unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas (early January) and ISE 2026 in Barcelona (early February). The suggested retail price for the system is €3,300.
