C3-PO sells its Star Wars collection

Anthony Daniels, known for donning the chrome skin of the droid C3-PO for over 40 years, is auctioning off his prized collection of Star Wars treasures.

On March 13, the Californian auction house Propstore Auction is putting up for sale the collection of Anthony Daniels, the actor we know for having played the fearful chrome droid C3-PO in the Star Wars saga.

More than 125 objects accumulated during 50 years of filming££££

This collection of more than 125 objects includes props used during filming, scripts, and other goodies accumulated by the actor over nearly 50 years. “I've lived with these items for 50 years, some of them, and I have very mixed feelings about letting them go,” Daniels told The Hollywood Reporter. I had all of these items, almost all of them were in closets, drawers and in attics. Nobody looked at them, nobody cherished them, if you like. And they didn’t deserve to be thrown away.”

A roll of golden tape put up for sale…££££

The actor thus parted with his entire collection, except for two objects: a statue from Lucasfilm congratulating him for 40 years of good service, and a statue of C3-PO made from Legos. And among the items up for sale are, for example, the mask that Daniels wore during Return of the Jedi (estimated between $500,000 and $1,000,000), a personal script for “The Star Wars” signed George Lucas dating from 1976 and annotated by the actor (between €10,000 and $20,000), or a roll of golden tape used to repair C3-PO's costumes.
