Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in HDR10

A few days ago, December 14 to be precise, the company HDR10+ Technologies - co-founded by Samsung in 2018 with 20th Century Fox and Panasonic - announced the availability of the PC games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty in HDR10+.

Already betting on the title The First Descendant, already mentioned in our pages, the announcement on the PC games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty therefore confirms the growing interest of developers for HDR10+ technology based on dynamic metadata, competing with HDR Dolby Vision.

As a reminder, these titles should be the first in a long series, the use of HDR10+ being facilitated for its integration within the graphics creation engine in the Unreal Engine creation engine (see our news HDR10+ in Unreal Engine, a good sign for the future of video games), in addition to the HDR10 and HDR Dolby Vision already present. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 HDR10+ on PC, with its HDR10+ interface, has been available since November 9. For its part, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty HDR10+ on PC has been available since December 5. As a reminder, only the PC versions of these titles are in HDR10+, no game console is currently HDR10+ compatible.

"The use of HDR10+ technologies has grown exponentially to fully encompass a variety of platforms and vendors," said Bill Mandel, co-head of HDR10+ Technologies, in a statement. Now, with the availability of nVIDIA plug-in cards, game studios and developers can also enjoy all the benefits of HDR10+ Gaming on certified monitors and TVs.”
