IFA 26 > Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro: updated specifications ( Xgimi Ascend) and store price

Following up once again on our news published about the new series of Xgimi Aura 3 video projectors, whose Kickstarter campaign will be launched next October 20. After our visit to the stand and a discussion with the head of European marketing, we know more about the retail prices of the first Ultra HD 4K triple RGB laser and 120 hertz ultra-short-throw video projectors. And about the package offered by the manufacturer on Kickstarter with the ALR Ascend speaker/screen cabinet…

In addition to the pricing of the new Xgimi Aura 3 Pro and Xgimi Aura 3 Max projectors (see at the bottom of this news item) and the contrast ratio of the Aura 3 Pro (see below), the brand told us that the superb ALR speaker cabinet/screen Xgimi Ascend, originally unveiled at the CES 2025 trade show in Las Vegas (see our news CES 25 > Xgimi Ascend, the ultimate motorized screen for video projection?) will be offered in a bundle with the projectors, exclusively via the Kickstarter campaign scheduled for October 20 (to be seen whether the Ascend will be sold separately later on).

Xgimi Ascend, 100" or 120" ALR screen and Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 Thus, it will be possible to order one of the two projectors on its own, or in a bundle with the Xgimi Ascend. Note that the latter will be available in two versions, 100" and 120", and the Harman Kardon-branded audio section offers a [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] 5.1.2 configuration (the surrounds use the reflection of the side speakers off the walls and two Up-Firing drivers are located at the ends of the cabinet) with a subwoofer isolated within the wooden structure of the soundbar in order to avoid vibrations. The total output power is 60 watts. The ALR screen (ambient light rejection), combined with a wide viewing angle and optimized contrast, allows for a bright and dynamic image regardless of lighting conditions. It is therefore possible to enjoy the projector even in broad daylight. No further details yet on the pricing of these bundles.

Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Pro: brightness and projection ratio The new range is built around two models sharing the same core visual technologies, the Aura 3 Pro and the flagship, the Aura 3 Max. The latter is designed for very large spaces with an advertised brightness of 5,700 lumens (this figure could be revised upward at the IFA show), while the former delivers 4,100 lumens. With an ultra-short throw ratio of 0.163:1, the projector is capable of displaying a 120" (305 cm) diagonal image from a throw distance of just 20 cm from the screen. Beyond its raw performance, Xgimi has focused on home integration with the Xgimi Wall app, turning the device into a true decorative digital canvas when it is not showing movies.

Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Pro: Dynamic Dual Iris optics and controlled contrast The heart of the Aura 3 series lies in the unprecedented integration of an optical system called Dynamic Dual Iris. By combining a dynamic iris that adjusts in real time to the scene brightness with a second hardware aperture, Xgimi promises deeper blacks and greater detail in low light. The manufacturer thus announces an impressive native contrast ratio reaching 8,000:1 for the Xgimi Aura 3 Max, 7,000:1 for the Aura 3 Pro. Image processing, meanwhile, is handled by the new X-Vision intelligent AI processor, notably managing Dynamic Tone Mapping to optimize color rendering (110% of the BT2020 gamut announced).

Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Pro: HDMI 2.1, 4K at 120 Hz and cutting-edge gaming The real evolution brought by the Aura 3 Max concerns its handling of very high refresh-rate video streams for video games. Based on two DLPC 8545 controllers paired with a 0.47" [abc]DMD[/abc] matrix, it establishes itself as one of the first [abc]DLP[/abc] UST projectors capable of natively handling [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] at 120 Hz via its [abc]HDMI[/abc] 2.1 inputs. The most demanding gamers can even push smoothness up to 240 Hz at 1,080p resolution with an advertised input lag of 1 millisecond. Support for [abc]VRR[/abc], [abc]ALLM[/abc] and Dolby Vision Gaming is included.

Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Pro: Imax Enhanced, Google TV and Harman Kardon sound On the cinema side, the Aura 3 series ticks all the boxes for premium [abc]HDR[/abc] formats with support for [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc], [abc]HDR10+[/abc], [abc]Imax Enhanced[/abc] as well as the classic [abc]HDR10[/abc] and [abc]HDR HLG[/abc]. Faithfulness to the filmmaker's vision is ensured by the presence of Filmmaker Mode and native compatibility with 24, 25 and 50 frames per second. Good news for fans of 3D, cinematic 3D is included, with two pairs of active glasses supplied in the box. A hardware anti-RBE technology is also integrated to reduce the [abc]rainbow effect[/abc] in both 2D and 3D. The connected experience is powered by Google TV with certified Netflix, while sound is handled by a powerful 80 W Harman Kardon system, compatible with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] and DTS Virtual:X.
