Zelda film, more Miyazaki than Tolkien according to its director

Some news on the direction that the next film inspired by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda saga should take.

As you know, a film inspired by the video game saga The Legend of Zelda is in preparation, even if we will have to wait a few more years before seeing it arrive. Its director Wes Ball is currently busy finalizing the latest opus of Planet of the Apes, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Zelda film, colorful and wonderful?

He still released some information on the future Zelda film to Entertainment Weekly, in particular his vision for the project: “An incredible fantasy adventure film that is not like The Lord of the Rings, it will be something of its own. And to add: I would love to see a Miyazaki in live action. This wonder and fantasy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that."

We can deduce from these few words that this film will borrow more from the colorful and wonderful side of Studio Ghibli films, rather than the dark and “realistic” atmosphere of Peter Jackson’s work.
