Yamaha MusicCast 200, CD/network player, DAB and multiroom

With the Yamaha MusicCast 200, also known under the name TSX-N237D, presented at the IFA show in Berlin at the beginning of September, the Japanese manufacturer is modernizing its TSX range which has been dormant for several years. On the program, improved sound quality and, always, the possibility of benefiting from a very wide range of audio sources.

Of course, we find on the Yamaha MusicCast 200 the DNA of the TSX range, namely an audio CD player, an FM tuner and a USB Host port. But the MusicCast 200 has been boosted with hormones and includes all the latest features to enjoy your favorite music.

Thus the Yamaha TSX-N237D also integrates the components of the MusicCast function, namely multiroom to transform the Yamaha MusicCast 200 into a link in a larger MusicCast chain (see photo below), Wi-Fi certifications Fi 5 Dual Band, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 4.2.

Precision, management of MP3, WMA, AAC, Wav, Flac, Alac and AIFF files is required. Likewise, web radios are on the menu. All controllable via the free MusicCast Controller app. In addition, the latter provides access to the music streaming services Amazon Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal.

The audio equipment of the Yamaha TSX-N237D is built around a digital amplification delivering a total power of 50 W (2 x 25 W, at 6 ohms). Sound reproduction is ensured by two 25 mm tweeters and two 8 centimeter woofers.

The connectivity of the Yamaha MusicCast 200 is not the richest with, in addition to the USB port already mentioned, a 3.5 mm mini-Jack input, an Ethernet port and a headphone output.

To be complete on the Yamaha TSX-N237D, we must also mention the presence, in addition to the FM tuner, of a DAB+ tuner and the Qi wireless charging function. To do this, simply place your smartphone, True Wireless headphones or compatible smartwatch on top of the Yamaha MusicCast. Practical (see photo below). Finally, an equalizer, a mode to amplify low frequencies and a clock with Alarm function are also present.
