Denon AVR-X1800H DAB, 7.2 Ultra HD 8K amplifier, HDMI 2.1, HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10, AirPlay 2, Heos…

A few hours ago, the brand presented the new Denon AVR-X1800H DAB amplifier, replacing the Denon AVR-X1700H which appeared in the fall of 2021. Presentation…

To be brief, the Denon AVR-X1800H DAB of course incorporates all of the technical characteristics of the AVR-X1700H, modulo a few upgrades including connectors fully compliant with the HDMI 2.1 standard or slightly different connectors.

Denon AVR-X1800H, HDMI 2.1 compatible up to Ultra HD 8K

To come back to the HDMI connectors, three inputs out of six handle Ultra HD 4K/120 signals, the other three also support 8K 60 Hz signals. For the rest, they support all the features of the standard: VRR, ALLM, eARC, QMS, QFT, Ultra HD 4K 120 fps up to an Upscaling in Ultra HD 8K 60 Hz (see our news HDMI 2.1 standard, welcome official additions, technical and ergonomic).

Denon AVR-X1800H main specs

For the rest, there is a DAC TI PCM5102 384 kHz/32 bits, the management of HDR10+ signals, the integration of a DAB+ tuner or the possibility of applying all the audio processing available on a Dolby signal. Thus, it is now possible on a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack to engage DTS Virtual:X. Dolby Height Virtualization processing and the availability of the Bluetooth TX function (wireless transmitter) to broadcast the audio signal to suitable headphones in addition to the speakers. It is thus possible to enjoy your music on the speakers in the living room but also in the kitchen or the bedroom via wireless headphones.

Denon AVR-X1800H, the continuation of the main features

We also note the possibility of taking advantage of multi-channel decoding in the main zone (most often the living room) and simultaneously broadcasting the downmixed soundtrack in stereo in the Heos 2 and 3 zones, the ability to associate in the main zone to a video signal (that of DTT for example) an audio signal coming from another source (for example that of an audio CD). Finally, there is also the ability within a multiroom configuration to distribute a source to another link in the Heos chain (the tuner on several Heos devices located in other rooms in the home, Denon Home speakers in particular).

Denon AVR-X1800H, the rest of the main technical characteristics

On the menu again for the Denon AVR-X1800H DAB, Spotify Connect certification, Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 and DTS:X 7.1 processing, AirPlay 2 functions, Wi-Fi Dual Band and TuneIn web radios, the UPnP audio gateway (DLNA ), Amazon Music, Deezer, SoundCloud, Tidal compatibility… Plus Audyssey MultEQ XT automatic calibration, Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Audyssey Dynamic EQ processes, DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz, Flac, Wav and Alac compatibility up to in 192 kHz/24 bits in addition to MP3, WMA and AAC, and the management of an output impedance of 4 or 8 ohms. Not to mention the compatibility with the paid Audyssey MultiEQ Editor application and two subwoofer outputs (parallel).

On the HDR side, in addition to the already mentioned HDR10+, there is HDR10, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision compatibility, not to mention the management of the BT.2020 gamut. Denon AVR-X1800H, optimized manufacturing

Model 7.2, the Denon AVR-X1800H DAB displays a power of 7 x 145 W under 6 ohms (7 x 80 W under 8 ohms). Also on the program, a large-character OSD allowing you to configure/control the amplifier comfortably installed, far away, on a sofa and a processing to improve the sound reproduction of compressed audio files. We still notice an optimized manufacturing in order to reduce the signal path the risk of interference.
