Streaming: 400 million new subscribers by 2028

Even if the market is starting to saturate, according to the analysis and market research firm Digital TV Research, quite a few customers are still expected in the subscription video streaming sector.

According to the latest estimates from Digital TV Research, between 2022 and 2028 there will be 400 million additional subscribers to an SVOD service (streaming video by subscription), a sector which will then reach 1.76 billion subscribers worldwide .

SVOD 2028, the United States leading with 55% of subscribers?

By 2028, 24 countries will have more than 10 million subscribers each, and six U.S. platforms will total 972 million subscribers (or 55% of the global total), up from 711 million in 2022. The majority of this rapid growth will come from “young” platforms (for example MAX), which will be deployed in the rest of the world while they are currently only limited to the United States.

The word to Simon Murray

“Netflix will remain the largest platform despite adding 57 million subscribers to the Disney+ portfolio between 2022 and 2028. At the same time, Netflix will have an additional 46 million subscribers,” adds Simon Murray of Digital TV Research.
