BenQ W2710, 4K Ultra HD Projector, 95% DCI-P3, HDR10, 2200 Lumens…

With the BenQ W2710 video projector, Ultra HD 4K Home Cinema model, the Taiwanese manufacturer announces the renewal of the W2700 which appeared in 2019. On the menu, many improvements to discover immediately.

With this HD Ready 2 160p and 3D Ready model, BenQ is expanding its range of 4K Ultra HD DLP Home Cinema projectors by wobulation.

BenQ W2710, 0.47'' DMD chip

In short, Texas Instrument's XPR (wobulation) process of the BenQ W2710, made from a 1920 x 1080 pixel section of the 0.47'' (1.19 cm) DMD chip which has 2 048 x 1200 pixels, uses hyper-high mirror switching speed (7 micro-seconds) through specific video processing to create 8 million pixels for each displayed frame (one real pixel results in four pixels).

BenQ W2710, main specs

Regarding Ultra HD/4K technology, through the new HDR-Pro functionality, the BenQ W2710, still HDR10 and HDR HLG compatible, now supports HDR10+ technology. On the gamut side, the BenQ W2710 provides 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 space. Good news, again, BenQ ensures that the factory setting of the W2710 ensures a Deta E of less than 3 to make the most of the projector right out of the box, without the imperative need for calibration. Finally, the optics are made of glass and consist of six groups for a total of ten lenses and MEMC motion compensation is always in order.

For the rest, the brightness here displays 2,200 lumens (compared to 2,000 on the W2700), the contrast ratio 50,000:1 (compared to 30,000:1 on the W2700) and the wheel is a specimen six segments (RGBRGB) which, associated with a specific setting, makes it possible to display 95% of the DCI-P3 color space (CinematicColor function). Still on the menu, in addition to a short focal length (image diagonal of 100'', 254 cm, for a recoil of 2.5 m), we must also mention a 1.3x zoom to display a diagonal of up to 300' ' (762cm). Finally, there is a vertical keystone correction over 30 degrees, a vertical Lens Shift of 10% and an adjustable manual focus via a ring to be rotated above the lens. Of course, the BenQ W2710 is also 3D DLP Link compatible, and operating noise fluctuates between 28 dB and 30 dB, respectively in Eco and Normal mode.

BenQ W2710, connectivity

The connection has three HDMI 2.0b inputs, one of which has the eARC function and another compatible with 4K/120 signals (but 4K/60 display), a 3.5 mm mini-Jack output, an optical output, a RS-232 socket, a 12V trigger, two USB ports, one of which is powered, and a mini-USB type-B port (service). The lamp boasts a lifespan of 4,000 hours in Normal mode, 10,000 hours in Eco mode.

BenQ W2710, Input Lag

Last point, on the Input Lag side, the BenQ W2710 displays 17.9 ms with a 2160p@60 Hz signal, 8.7 ms in 1080p@240 Hz and 21 ms in 1080p@120 Hz. Interesting characteristics for gaming video from a PS5, Xbox Series X console or a PC equipped with a high-performance graphics card (as a reminder, 4K/120 signal compatibility).
