French Polynesia. De Roller (Benoît Magimel, absolutely masterful in design), High Commissioner of the Republic, navigates between official meetings and parties at the Paradise Club. In the archipelago, the traumatic memory of nuclear tests (Mururoa) resists the postcard landscape. Revealed in 2006 with Honor de cavalleria, a daring variation around Don Quixote, produced with non-professionals, the Spaniard Albert Serra (also a videographer and visual artist) returns with a singular work that borrows as much from the paranoid thriller as from the disenchanted world of Joseph Conrad.
