Netflix creates its own video game studio

After acquiring a trio of companies, Netflix shifts gears into the video game sector and establishes its own development studio.

At the end of 2021, the Netflix streaming platform diversified its activity by launching an offer of free mobile video games, reserved for its subscribers.

The word to Amir Rahimi, vice president of Netflix game studios

Since then, the platform has acquired three development studios -Next Games, Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment- to feed its catalog. And more recently, Netflix has confirmed its desire to break into this sector by creating its own studio in Helsinki, Finland. "This is another step in our vision to build a studio that will deliver a variety of engaging original games, free of ads and in-app purchases, for our millions of members worldwide," said Amir Rahimi, Vice president of Netflix game studios.

Netflix's catalog of mobile games continues to grow, with 50 titles expected to be available by the end of the year.
