More and more videos watched, but not on a TV

As the years pass, mobile screens take up more space in the time devoted to watching videos.

According to a recent study by the Leichtman Research Group (LRG), 59% of adults in the United States watch videos daily on devices other than the television (smartphones, computers, tablets, etc.). A figure that makes sense when compared to previous years: 55% in 2020, 43% in 2017, and 18% in 2012.

The least 18-34 year olds in front of the TV

The youngest are more affected: 83% in the 18-34 age group, compared to 64% for the 35-54, and 35% for the over 55s. For the smartphone in particular, 50% of American adults watch video on the mobile daily, compared to 44% in 2020, and 33% in 2017.

The quality of videos on smartpone is progressing

Figures that show that the quality of these devices - both the image and the internet connection - has improved over time, making them all the more attractive. Not having known a world where TV was king, young people are naturally more attracted to these new viewing methods.
