Percy Jackson: the teenage hero created by Rick Riordan adapted as a series on Disney

The Disney+ VOD platform has ordered a new series centered on Percy Jackson, hero of a successful fantasy saga created by Rick Riordan.

A little less than ten years after his last film tribulation (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), the demigod imagined by author Rick Riordan becomes the hero of an upcoming series on the Disney+ platform. For the record, the character of Perseus "Percy" Jackson is a high school student, son of the god Poseidon and a human writer, who leads adventures rich in monsters and deities from Greek mythology.

Two films not really memorable!! !!

During his two appearances at the cinema (The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters), Percy Jackson was played by Logan Lerman, also seen in the war film Fury or the series Amazon Hunters. Without being ovens (the two feature films totaled $426 million in revenue worldwide), the big screen adaptations of this successful literary saga have not been considered satisfactory, either by fans or by financiers.

New attempt

With the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Disney+ will therefore attempt a new iteration of the character, with broadcast for the time being set on 2023. This is a restart from scratch of the saga and it is the author himself, Rick Riordan, who will co-write the pilot directed by filmmaker James Bobin (Dora and the Lost City). Complete mystery on the other hand on the cast of the new series, starting with the new actor in charge of incarnating the son of Poseidon.
