Sony HT-S400, 2.1 Bluetooth 5.0 soundbar

The Japanese manufacturer announced a few days ago the new Sony HT-S400 2.1 entry-level soundbar.

A basic model, the Sony HT-S4000 only includes a Dolby Digital decoder. However, it benefits from S-Force Pro Front Surround technology, which recreates a virtual surround system from a simple 2.1 sound bar.

Audio and video specifications

The Sony HT-S400 also has Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility and a wireless (Wi-Fi) subwoofer for a total power delivered by the digital S-Master amplification of 330 watts. Namely, the soundbar has two X-Balanced broadband speakers (rectangular shape for better audio performance) associated with Separated Notch Edge technology (notches finely placed on the edge of the membrane to better control the pressure at the inside and outside of the diaphragm) for increased sound clarity.

In terms of connectivity, there is an HDMI CEC 1.4 output with ARC function, an optical input (and a USB port, but the latter is dedicated to Firmware updates).

Availability announced for the month of May. Indicative price: 299 euros.
