China Media Group (CMG), the predominant state media in China, has just announced the launch of CCTV-8K, an 8K TV channel dedicated to broadcasting the upcoming Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.

CMG has developed the appropriate production and distribution systems, and has for several quarters been accelerating the growth of the audiovisual chain necessary for all stages of 8K production, including capture, transmission and diffusion.

CMG also plans to install large 8K screens in public places across the country. For the moment, four train stations between Beijing and Zhangjiakou (another city hosting the games) are equipped to broadcast 8K content produced by CMG. Source: xinhuanet
