“Dizaines de milliards in revenue” for Prime Video

Amazon rarely communicates about Prime Video’s results, but the online commerce giant recently reported that its video streaming platform was more than profitable.

If Netflix regularly communicates about its financial and audience results, the same is not true for Prime Video, which nevertheless started its career a few months ahead of its competitor.

Amazon has a smile

Backed by the Amazon giant, it is easy to imagine that Prime Video is doing well, which was confirmed on the occasion of the company’s recent quarterly results announcement. Prime Video “has established itself as an important business, with annualized revenue in the tens of billions of dollars, and is now fully profitable,” said Amazon CEO Andy Jassy on that occasion.

He cited the success of major series such as Carrie, The Boys, Reacher, or Fallout, as well as films such as Project Hail Mary, as well as live sports broadcasts.

315 million users worldwide for Prime Video

Amazon has around 250 million paid Prime subscribers worldwide, spread across 27 countries, who automatically benefit from free access to Prime Video. However, Amazon has never disclosed the number of paid Prime Video subscribers on its own (a subscription that removes ads).

Driven by its ad-supported offering, which became the default option and launched in January 2024, Prime Video reportedly has more than 315 million monthly active users worldwide, spread across 16 major countries. In the United States, the platform reportedly has around 130 million monthly viewers, or about 17% of the domestic streaming market share.
