Netflix more expensive, a year after the last increase

The leading streaming platform is raising its prices again, seemingly establishing a worrying almost annual tradition.
After a price increase in January 2025, Netflix is doing it again, a little over a year after the last hike. The news only affects the United States for now, but given that the 2025 increase was echoed in France three months later, we can expect to shed a few tears soon too. More value, really? In detail, the Standard subscription with ads is increasing from $7.99 to $8.88, the Standard subscription from $17.99 to $19.99, and the Premium subscription from $24.99 to $26.99. Netflix's revenue—the market leader with 325 million subscribers—shouldn't be too impacted by members leaving, as this will be offset by the higher price paid by others. “Our approach remains the same: we continue to offer a range of plans and subscriptions to meet diverse needs,” Netflix told Variety. “As we deliver more value to our subscribers, we adjust our prices so we can reinvest in the quality of our content and improve their experience.” Until the day everyone abandons ship?
