Xiaomi smartphone market leader in Europe for the first time

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi passes for the first time in front of the leaders Samsung and Apple in Europe.

According to figures from Strategy Analytics (via Business Wire) Xiaomi passed Samsung in the second quarter of 2021, leading the distribution of smartphones in Europe.

Focus on Xiaomi, Samsung and Apple sales figures

This is the first time that the Chinese manufacturer has occupied this position. A very good quarter for Xiaomi therefore, since it is also ahead of Apple in the global market (even if Samsung remains the global leader). In detail, Xiaomi distributed 12.7 million smartphones in Europe in the second quarter, 67.1% better than the same period last year. Samsung has sold 12 million units, a decrease of 7% compared to 2020, and Apple is at 9.6 million, or 15.7% better than last year, notably thanks to the appeal of the iPhone 12.

Xiaomi's good results are of course linked to the quality of its products, but also to the gradual disappearance of Huawei, previously a habitual resident of this Top 3 and today largely behind.
