RIP Sir Patrick Stewart, eternal pop culture icon

British actor, highly prolific and popular, notably for his roles in Star Trek, Marvel and also in theater, Sir Patrick Stewart died on October 29, 2026.

There are deaths of personalities that hurt more than others. The one of Sir Patrick Stewart, announced on October 29, 2026, is certainly sad. After briefly battling Alzheimer’s and Lewy body diseases, the British actor born in 1940 passed away at the age of 86.

An actor who left a real mark

Although he is mainly known to the general public for his inimitable voice and his central science-fiction roles, namely Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek universe and Charles Xavier in the X-Men (and in the incredible Logan), it would be unfair to reduce his incredible career to that. A multi-award-winning actor, notably for his stage roles, where he began acting at the age of 9, Patrick Stewart also shone in films such as Excalibur, Green Room and Dune (1984), to name just a handful.

A geek icon, but not only that

Recently, besides lending his voice in Les moutons détectives, he once again portrayed Jean-Luc Picard in season 3 of Star Trek: Picard. His final role will be seen in December in Avengers: Doomsday, and we hope that his Charles Xavier’s arrival in the MCU will live up to the man. All the more so as he will share the screen with his old friend, Ian McKellen. Safe travels, Sir, and thanks for the memes.
