Without counting the seriously ill people who deliberately damage their brand-new device, social networks are beginning to echo a worrying trend: after only a few hours of use, the new iPhone Duo damages itself, leaving its foldable screen scarred and unusable.
Apple's official response
Concerned about this, the editors at macrumors contacted Apple, which issued an unusually quick response: “We are aware of a problem affecting the internal screen of a small number of iPhone Duo devices. If users encounter problems with the screen on their iPhone Duo, they should contact AppleCare to obtain a replacement”.
iFixit's technical analysis
No details on the causes of this problem, then, but iFixit, which carefully dismantled and analyzed the device, has a few hypotheses, starting with a support rod at the hinge, supposed to retract to allow many components at that level to slide. For an unspecified reason, it sometimes fails to retract, leading to the breakage of said components.
Affected users were able to have their iPhone Duo replaced in store, but given the limited stock available, some will have to wait.
