Rumors have been suggesting for some time that Apple is preparing new connected home devices, starting with a screen at the end of a robotic arm planned for 2026/2027, but also its less expensive little brother, a simple connected screen on a fixed base.
A delayed launch for the new Siri
A device that was originally supposed to launch in early 2025, then pushed back to the end of that same year, and which would finally arrive as early as October, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman tells us, having already reported the first delays. The product was ready, but its operation depended largely on the new Siri, which was unavailable at the time. Now that it is available, notably making it possible to use the user’s data to respond more effectively to requests, the product is back on the Apple company’s agenda.
Two versions planned
In a recent report, Gurman mentions two versions of the device, one on a fixed base, the other to be mounted on the wall. This screen comes with pre-installed apps such as the Safari browser, a music player, and a news streamer. It is also equipped with a front-facing camera, a rechargeable battery, and a speaker.
The central interface for the smart home
The product is also a central interface for controlling home devices, communicating with other people, accessing your multimedia content, and using Apple services. It includes a new operating system using the graphical codes of Apple’s other OSes and, in addition to video calls, the camera can recognize users in order to automatically display the information that concerns them on the screen.
