In only 47 days of release, the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed the U.S. box office record of 936 million dollars, held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens since its release in 2015.
Lucasfilm says bravo to Marvel
To add a little to this performance, it is worth noting that this Star Wars Episode VII took 165 days to reach this result. True to tradition, Lucasfilm congratulated the new champion, even though it should be remembered that both franchises -Marvel and Star Wars- live more or less under the same roof of the Disney house.
The rules of the box office
Another point to note is that inflation and the price of premium formats (such as Imax) work in favor of newer films. Thus, fewer people went to see Spider-Man than Star Wars, but they paid more. These rules of the game are nevertheless accepted by all, otherwise Gone with the Wind, released in 1940, would be champion for life. On this subject, Victor Fleming's 1939 film is announced in 4K Steelbook and 4K Collector on November 4.
