Peter Sarsgaard joins The Last of Us season 3

Peter Sarsgaard joins the third, and likely final, season of The Last of Us, HBO's popular post-apocalyptic drama series.
The actor from Shattered Glass, September 5, and DTF St. Louis will play Amon, a new recurring character not seen in the series or the game, presented as one of the leaders of the Seraphite religious cult. Filming on hold due to the World Cup: Filming for this third season began on March 2nd and is currently suspended for a one-month production break. The reason: Vancouver, the main filming location, is one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup. Filming will resume in July and continue until November 27th. Co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, creator of the game, this third season will shift perspectives to follow Abby Anderson, played by Kaitlyn Dever. A member of the Washington Liberation Front, she triggered some of the events of the previous season through her actions. The new episodes will first revisit the three days spent in Seattle, already seen in the second season, but this time through Abby's eyes. She will befriend a Seraphite on the run, while also having to confront a sniper who is taking down members of the WLF and another threat that directly targets her loved ones. The Last of Us, the waning of enthusiasm? Craig Mazin, executive producer and co-showrunner of the first two seasons, will be solely at the helm of this third season, expected in 2027. And to think that not so long ago, everyone was raving about The Last of Us. Season 2, however, clearly eroded the enthusiasm surrounding the series and seems to have cooled HBO's ambitions. Where did the fourth season, once discussed, go? Between more divided reviews and less impressive ratings, the franchise has lost some of its luster. It remains to be seen whether season 3 will dramatically reverse this trend and restore The Last of Us to its status as a phenomenon. Fingers crossed: season 2 certainly didn't deserve so much dislike.
