Streets of Rage: the Sega game's film adaptation shifts into high gear

Lionsgate has just unveiled the creative team that will orchestrate the big-screen adaptation of Sega's legendary video game franchise, Streets of Rage. With screenwriters from the Sonic films and a director with a distinctive visual style, the feature film boasts a solid foundation to appeal to both longtime fans and a wider audience.
First discussed a decade ago, the film adaptation of Sega's Streets of Rage video games is becoming increasingly concrete. Lionsgate has announced that the film's team is taking shape, with Pat Casey and Josh Miller (the Sonic films) writing the screenplay, and Jeymes Samuel (The Harder They Fall and The Book of Clarence) directing. Not necessarily Sega's most well-known license, Streets of Rage remains a legendary fighting game series, the first installment of which arrived in 1991 on the Mega Drive, with a recent revival released in 2020, Streets of Rage 4, particularly successful and developed by a French studio. Streets of Rage joins other projects adapting Sega works, such as Shinobi and Comix Zone.
