Even more ads on Netflix, revolt!

Netflix subscribers with ads could experience even more ad breaks starting next year.
Despite increasingly frequent price hikes, Netflix's subscriber base continues to grow, particularly for the Standard plan with ads, which has reached 250 million according to the platform—a significant increase from 190 million in November 2025. An ad-supported option soon to be even more profitable for Netflix. This option, which in 2025 generated $1.5 billion in advertising revenue for Netflix alone, is expected to generate even more profit as the platform reportedly intends to increase the number of ad breaks on its app. This is according to The Verge, which explains that these ads will appear starting next year in the Clips section recently introduced in the Netflix mobile app. Ads added to Clips… and soon to podcasts. As a reminder, this section is a collection of short, vertically oriented clips, perfect for smartphones, which can be scrolled through Instagram-style to find Netflix content you like. Furthermore, more ads will also appear in the podcast section.
