An unlikely blend of retro audio format, noble materials, and high-level craftsmanship defines this unique decorative project.
Instead of being bored doing nothing, David Picciuto from the YouTube channel Make Something decided to build a giant wooden audio cassette! A giant audio cassette, an XXL tribute to the retro audio format of the 1970s and 80s. This isn't the first time wood has attracted DIY enthusiasts of all kinds, as we've already seen other wacky projects like a wooden PlayStation, or even a Cybertruck made of this material. What distinguishes this new decorative object is, on the one hand, its homage to a retro audio format that enjoyed its heyday in the 1970s and 80s, and on the other hand, its imposing size, fifteen times larger than the original object, which measures 10 x 6 centimeters. An assemblage blending woodworking, laser cutting, and 3D printing. Inspired by a blank cassette lying on his father's desk, the craftsman combined several types of wood and used almost all the tools in his woodworking shop, including a laser cutter and a 3D printer. We invite you to discover the entire process, from computer design to assembly and finishing, in the video at the top of the article.
