Sharp is entering 2026 with a clear ambition for its TV range: value for money. The JT8000 and JQ8000 series combine Mini LED and Quantum Dot technologies with a Harman Kardon sound system, all at attractively priced levels.
The Japanese manufacturer intends to capitalize on decades of expertise to reposition its TV offering in a more ambitious segment. In 2026, Sharp is relying on a powerful trio of technologies to improve contrast, brightness, and color reproduction: Mini LED, QLED (Quantum Dot), and AI-assisted image processing. Audio is entrusted to Harman Kardon, guaranteeing sound quality. Finally, the brand is adopting a unique Smart TV strategy, offering a choice between Google TV or TiVo OS depending on the model. Mini LED, Local Dimming, and Quantum Dot: Sharp strengthens its picture quality in 2026. Sharp is accelerating the rollout of its Mini LED technology, now central to its 2026 range, for more precise backlighting, offering deeper blacks and high brightness, even in well-lit rooms. Quantum Dot technology ensures richer and more natural colors. The most advanced models, such as the JT8000 and JQ8000 series (see photo below), combine a 144Hz panel with up to 750 zones, Aquos Smooth Motion technology, Dolby Vision HDR IQ, and AI-powered image optimization. Specifically, the peak brightness reaches 1,000 nits on the JT8000 screens and 1,300 nits on the JQ8000 models. These models are expected to be available in 50" (127 cm), 55" (140 cm), 65" (165 cm), and 75" (191 cm) sizes.
Sharp 2026 TV: Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos, a definite upgrade in sound quality
To accompany this visual progression, Sharp is also enhancing the audio. The Sharp JT8000 models (see photo below) incorporate a 2 × 12 W system designed with Harman Kardon, offering a fuller and more precise sound reproduction. Dolby Atmos compatibility adds an extra immersive dimension, ideal for movies, series, and music. Specifically, the Sharp JQ series offers a 2.1 configuration for more pronounced bass.

Google TV or TiVo: a multi-OS strategy to adapt to all uses
In 2026, the manufacturer Sharp is adopting an operating system agnostic approach. Thus, depending on the series, the user will have the choice of their Smart TV environment: Google TV, which ensures complete integration with Google Assistant and Google Home, or TiVo OS, which focuses on a "Content First" interface and a universal search engine.
Note that the Sharp JP7000 series (pictured at the top of this article) will also be available this summer. While it offers more or less the same specifications, the number of zones is limited to 300, the peak brightness to 800 nits, and the panel operates at 60 hertz.
Availability is announced for July for the Sharp JT8000 series, and September for the Sharp JQ8000 series.
