Spotify, new Exclusive Audiophile Mode on Windows PC and coming soon to Mac OSX

The Spotify app on PC (and soon Mac) offers a new Exclusive mode to optimize sound quality by ignoring the audio path imposed by the machine.
After the (finally!) arrival of lossless audio quality last year, Spotify is offering a new option, exclusively for Windows users, that eliminates elements that interfere with the audio signal. Bit-Perfect and 44.1 kHz/24-bit FLAC: the system mixer bypassed. Called "Exclusive Mode," this function ignores all the processing usually applied to the audio signal passing through the PC, notably the system mixer, which blends notification sounds and various streams from multiple media sources before they reach your DAC, sacrificing sound quality in the process, much to the dismay of audiophiles. Thus, the sound arrives "pure," with true 44.1 kHz/24-bit FLAC quality. Note that when this mode is active, no other sound—including notifications—can play simultaneously with the Spotify stream. Please note that Spotify videos and podcasts do not benefit from this mode, which is designed for audiophiles who need the appropriate equipment. Following Windows, Spotify specifies that Exclusive Mode will arrive later on Mac computers.
