Getting paid to watch Netflix?

Users of video platforms are looking for more flexible payment options, even if it means being rewarded for their viewing loyalty.
28% of Britons believe that streaming services should reward them for binge-watching episodes of TV series, for example by offering discounts on their subscriptions. This is one of the interesting findings of the latest study conducted by subscription aggregator Bango with 1,500 consumers in the UK, explaining that many want to keep their streaming subscriptions but with more flexible payment options. For example, 45% of respondents believe they are paying for unused viewing time. 20% of consumers would like to pay based on the time they spend on the streaming app, 17% would like to pay by the hour, and 9% by the minute. 22% of users are even willing to sacrifice more private data (such as viewing history) in exchange for a discount. Giles Tongue, Vice President of Marketing at Bango, explains: “Consumers want subscriptions to adapt to real life. People use services intermittently, change what they watch, and expect pricing and benefits to reflect this reality rather than a rigid monthly subscription. They want a single place to manage what they pay for, and they are open to the next generation of more flexible and rewarding subscription models, whether it's binge-watching perks, cross-platform credits, or usage-based billing.”
