Free Xbox Game Pass with ads, it's becoming clearer

The Xbox Cloud Gaming service may soon offer free access in exchange for watching ads. New details.
Video games are taking inspiration from streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+, which have recently introduced new ad-supported offerings. And Xbox Cloud Gaming is expected to follow suit, according to a rumor last December, which Microsoft has all but confirmed. Xbox Game Pass: 1 hour of ad-supported gameplay per session. These rumors were recently corroborated by Tom Warren for The Verge, who published a screenshot (above) of a test version of Xbox Cloud Gaming, showing the usual rocket icon when you launch the feature, but including the message "1 hour of ad-supported gameplay per session." And to explain that the version tested internally by Microsoft allows for sessions of up to one hour, up to five hours per month, provided that users watch two minutes of advertising before each session. Xbox Game Pass: free but only for owned games… This is a seemingly attractive offer to introduce Xbox Game Pass to a new audience, since the Xbox app is already available on numerous platforms, including LG Smart TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, and Fire TV devices. It should be noted that, in its current state, this option only allows you to play Xbox games you own, as well as a selection of free and classic games. The full Xbox Game Pass library would therefore remain reserved for paying subscribers.
