Foldable iPhone: What to expect? (update)

Summary of expected features for the first-ever foldable iPhone, due in 2026, based on the latest rumors.
Although expected to arrive in stores only at the end of next year, the very first iPhone with a foldable screen has nevertheless generated a lot of buzz in recent months and weeks, lending credibility not only to its existence, but also to its main technical characteristics. Here is a new, updated summary of what we know about the device, based on the rumors that have been circulating for some time, with links to our related news articles where applicable. iPhone "Fold", expected key specifications: • Foldable display with a 7.74" (19.66 cm) diagonal and a resolution of approximately 2713 x 1920 pixels; 5.5" (13.97 cm) for the external display • Outer casing made of a titanium and aluminum composite • The visible crease in the center of the display has been resolved thanks to a structure, lamination method, and material treatment developed by Apple, with production handled by Samsung Display • No Face ID but a Touch ID fingerprint sensor • Dual 48MP rear camera system • UPC (Under Panel Camera) model for the selfie camera on the internal display • Battery capacity Between 5,400 mAh and 5,800 mAh, although no details have been revealed as to how Apple will achieve this capacity, given that the size of foldable devices generally doesn't allow much space for this component. Estimated price around $2,400, or €2,060 at the current exchange rate, although Apple's magical conversion will likely result in the device being listed at €2,500 in Europe. Release planned for September 2026, early 2027 at the latest.
