Samsung Vision AI Companion: TVs become truly intelligent

After months of development and a high-profile announcement at CES 2025 in Las Vegas last January, Samsung officially launched Vision AI Companion across its entire 2025 Smart TV and Smart Monitor range. The concept: transforming an ordinary TV into a conversational AI assistant, capable of accurately understanding everything displayed on screen from terrestrial broadcasts and TV Plus services, including actors, locations, works, and even recipes. A significant advancement, far removed from the limitations of traditional voice assistants. Because here, nothing is sent to the cloud: everything relies on the generative AI embedded in the TV, Copilot (and soon Perplexity). A button to interact with the screen: A question about the current movie or series? Simply press the dedicated button on the remote (the four-star button) and the TV will provide the answer. This visual, contextual, and illustrated experience, featuring additional content and information, is offered through a dedicated portal (see illustrations below). The Samsung Vision AI Companion goes beyond simply providing a list of results: it engages in conversation, follows up on your follow-up questions, and even suggests planning your next vacation based on a location seen on screen. Instantly switch between personalized recommendations, hotel bookings, weather forecasts, or, during a cooking show, spontaneous recipe suggestions. As mentioned above, this presentation applies to content from DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) and Samsung TV Plus sources. The possibilities are more limited with streaming services: there are no direct, interactive suggestions related to the displayed program, but it is still possible to engage in conversation with the AI about it. Finally, these conversations initiated via the Samsung Vision AI Companion (SVC) portal are managed locally, within the TV. No data is transmitted to Samsung or Copilot servers. Furthermore, exchanges are reset as soon as the user leaves SVC (no exchange tracking). AI pushes the boundaries of the living room. Of course, Vision AI Companion integrates all the major innovations presented by the manufacturer on its 2026 TV range: instant live translation of dialogues, dynamic creation of wallpapers adapted to your tastes, automatic image and sound adjustments (AI Picture, AVA Pro, AI Upscaling Pro), not to mention the Game mode that adapts to each gamer's style for total immersion. Note that Tizen also hosts Microsoft's Copilot and Perplexity AI agents as applications, accessible directly from the TV interface. Ideal for booking a trip or performing an advanced search without leaving the sofa, using these applications is similar to using them on a computer or mobile device. While the announced update of the AI agents (Copilot and Perplexity) at CES 25 is still available for owners of a 2023 or 2024 Samsung Smart TV, there are no plans for a Samsung Vision AI Companion portal, according to the latest information.
