Jack Bauer ready to return to action?

In a recent interview, Kiefer Sutherland, 58, revealed that Jack Bauer's return in 24 Hours is a serious possibility.

More than ten years after 24: Live Another Day, in which the CTU agent was delivered to the Russian authorities aboard a helicopter, the actor assures that it is no longer a mere rumor, but a real possibility: "Howard Gordon, the long-time producer of the series, had an idea that I like. Before, the material wasn't written, so I had to say, 'It's not me who's blocking it.' But something has been written. I think it's really good. Really solid."

A good script is only the first step, however. Other hurdles remain, starting with the question of rights, 24 having changed hands after Disney bought Fox's assets: "24 was originally at Fox. Now it's owned by Disney as a result of Fox's divestment, and so it has to go through various channels before a green light or a refusal is given. Like everyone else, it's something I'd really like to do. I'd like to close this story. It's been left pretty open. So, fingers crossed. There's a chance. We've made considerable progress."

Kiefer Sutherland would return after 8 seasons and 1 spin-off££££

As a reminder, Kiefer Sutherland played Jack Bauer for eight seasons (2001-2010) in the parent series 24, then in the 12-episode miniseries 24: Live Another Day. A 12-episode spin-off, 24: Legacy, starring Corey Hawkins as former Ranger Eric Carter, was released in 2017 but without Kiefer Sutherland.

It remains to be seen whether Howard Gordon's idea is a good one, and whether Jack Bauer will speak in real time to the new generation.
