We learn that the machine is expected to launch in 2027 or 2028 and that it would have AMD's next-generation Orion processor with 6 cores, up to 48 RDNA5 graphics processing units (GPUs) and GDDR7 memory. Behind these features, the promise of a rasterization speed (classic 3D display) three times faster than on PS5, improved Ray Tracing and lower energy consumption.

For fans of very technical details, the GPUs would be clocked at more than 3 GHz and the GDDR7 memory would benefit from a 160 or 192-bit memory bus with transfers at 32 Gbps. Latest rumors, Sony would apparently focus on limiting production costs and the production lines should start from mid-2027, ensuring a release for the end of the year at best, early 2028 if not.
