21.05.2025 • 19h24
A few days ago, the analysis firm NPA Conseil published a quick summary of the streaming activity of major American media and entertainment groups, with the key to a cumulative loss of 24 billion dollars since the beginning of 2020. And this, despite a situation that has been improving since the second half of 2024…
After 14 consecutive quarters of losses from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2024, American studios have once again seen their streaming business return to the black over the last three quarters, from July 1 to March 31. In the end, from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2025, the studios recorded an abysmal loss of $23.899 billion. Netflix teaches its competitors££££ However, the situation is far from homogeneous. NPA Conseil indicates that while Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney are generating profits, NBCUniversal/Peacock and Paramount are still in the red. In short, while things are improving overall, several services are still under pressure and their sustainability is still not assured. NPA Conseil highlights, at the same time, the incredible and insolent success of Netflix (almost a textbook case). While the studios recorded a total loss of nearly $24 billion, Netflix posted a positive result of $32.5 billion for the same period.
