Known for her memorable role as Ripley in the Alien saga, but also for having participated in other gems of science fiction like Avatar, Ghostbusters and even Galaxy Quest (cult!), actress Sigourney Weaver will play in the next Star Wars film The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Weaver herself revealed it during a recent interview with Deadline, confirming the rumor that was already circulating last May. "I play a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu," she explained. "I met Grogu for the first time the other day. I'm shooting before I go to London for (the play) The Tempest at the end of the year."
Theatrical release in 2026££££
And the journalist mentions how the actress is off to conquer all the greatest sagas of science fiction, before asking if the role is fun: "Very much," answers Weaver. I'm looking forward to it. I can't say much at the moment, but it's fun to navigate between all these different universes."
Production begins this year for a theatrical release in May 2026. It will be the first Star Wars film since the infamous Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
